Come join us at the St. Peter’s Marina for our annual fun filled citizen science event.
We have some exciting walks lined up on Handley‘s Island. We ask that people register in advance so we can arrange boat transportation. The cost of these activities is covered by your UNESCO Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Region.
To register – e-mail: kerr.gord@gmail.com
Bird watching – One of our local birders, Billy Digout, will be conducting guided bird watching walks around Handley’s Island. There will be two walks at 7am and 9am. It is important to get out early to listen and see the birds at their most active.
Medicinal and other useful plant life – Charles Doucette will be back again this year for his popular hike through the woods. Charles has extensive knowledge about traditional Mi’kmaq uses of the foliage. It will be interesting to see what he finds on the “untouched” Handley’s Island. These excursions are scheduled for 10am and noon.
