Skye Glen Whycocomagh Bike Ride

August 410:00 am - 3:00 pm

HWY 105 Time Hortons Whycocomagh / We'koqma'q FN

This is a gravel bike ride in the back country of Whycocomagh in the Skye Glen valley.
30 km of quiet road, very low traffic, good for hybrid bike.

Meet at Tim Horton's in Whycocomagh for a 10:00 start Thursday August 4th. Ride Leader: Micheline Guillot (lobelia4@gmail.com) Park at the community centre next to Tim Hortons.

We are going through the We'koqm'aq FN to avoid the HWY and visit the interesting historical site with 2 kms of nice gravel.

Then we will ride on new pavement and take the Rte 252 west side Skye Glen and turn on Crossing road to visit the creamery on East side Skye Glen.

This will give us a 25 kms return but we could add a loop of 5 kms of gravel road.

At the creamery one can buy curl cheese, Jersey cheese and milk from a distributor, cash only.

We will return the same way with tail wind on nice pavement. No hill just incline, nice scenery and low traffic.

It is suggested to bring a picnic lunch to eat on the way. Please bring $2 for Velo Cape Breton Insurance if you are not yet a member. Also note that there will be no support vehicle and so it is the riders responsibility to ensure their bicycle is in good mechanical order and that bringing your own repair kit is encouraged.

See you there
