Whycocomagh to Wa’koqma’q Community paddle

Skye River Trail

Community paddle from the Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre to Skye River trail in Wa'koqma'q First Nation.

STORM PLAN: In the event of a big winds & lightning this community paddle will be moved to the Skye River Trail where there will be other fun things going on and paddling can resume on the calm river when the weather permits.

Everybody welcome. Bring your own canoe, kayak or SUP and join us on the water. A limited number of canoes and safety equipment will be available for use.

Starts at the Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre at 1pm Friday August 6th, 2021
Paddle along the shore for 2.5KM or approximately one hour to the Skye River trail in Wa'koqma'q.

Paddlers will be greeted at the Skye River Trail with food, drinks, entertainment and cultural events.
This event is a great opportunity to take photos for the Eagle watch photo contest!

This event is part of Wjinene'n Pitu'Poq/ Explore the Bras d'Or and is put on by Wa'koqma'q First nation, the Whycocomagh waterfront centre, Oceans North and Burtch Canoe works.
